I was so excited when Olivia Rae from Everyday Musings agreed to participate in this series. The insight I have gotten from the bloggers in this series has been wonderful, Olivia and Tyler have such a sweet relationship and I am so excited to share it with you. (And the crying monster almost got me when I was looking at the pictures of these two.)
How old are you and Tyler and how long have you been together?
Tyler is 24 and I'm 20 and we've been together for about two years. We don't have an exact anniversary! We always try to make one up but it never sticks.
What are your occupations?
I'm a student at the College of Charleston and I work part-time at Cupcake, a cupcake bakery (obviously). Tyler works at the cutest restaurant in Charleston called Five Loaves, and also at a non-profit called Darkness to Light (working to end and prevent child sexual abuse).
How did you meet?
Tyler worked at a restaurant next door to Cupcake (where I work). He came in for a red velvet cupcake and shamelessly flirted with me. Then I went to the restaurant where he worked and shamelessly flirted with him.
Caring about someone else as much as you care about yourself. Someone you always have things to talk about with and someone you would trust with your life.
What's the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
I'm guilty of taking things out on Tyler that have nothing to do with him, because he's my family in Charleston.
What is the best part?
He's my family.
What is the best day you and Tyler have had together?
We have already made a million amazing memories together, but I love the days where we don't do anything significant, but just feel happy and enjoy each others company. We also love traveling together and have had some great times in Chicago, New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee... and Europe this summer!
What is your favorite thing to do together?
We love to ride bikes, go out to eat, TRAVEL, cook dinner and hang out at home, watch back-to-back episodes of The Office and Flight of the Concords, go bakery-scouting, pretend like we live in France, etc...
Do you have a song?
Well there are a thousand songs that remind me of Tyler but Sigur Ros is "our band." We discovered the first night we met that we shared a love/obsession for them. We have also been to Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza together (twice), and have so many wonderful concert memories together.
What are your hopes for the future?
I just want to be happy. Cliche but true, it's really all that matters...although I'd love to live in Paris and San Francisco... and write and bake for the rest of my life.
Anything else the world needs to know about love?
I'm no expert! But I think the most important thing is being with someone who you love to be around and can make you laugh till you cry. You should be with your best friend!
