Little List

1. I'm still a little sick. I was feeling better but then we had a warm weather & slept with a fan on and it made my cough start up again. I think I've had enough sickness for 2011.

2. My parents took Jus & me on a double date last night. We all went to get our hair cut & then out to dinner. It was super, super fun.

3. In related news Jus is growing out his hair and had been getting super frizzy. Luckily for us, the lovely stylist took care of his hair and I have a hottie for a hubby.

4. I can't believe how close this little blog is to 350 followers! I'm totally blown away by all of my new followers and absolutely beyond thrilled that you all have decided to follow along on our little adventures.

5. Modcloth is seriously teasing me with all of their gorgeous dresses. If any of you are looking for a gift for me I am particularly fond of the Ranch House Darling Dress.

6. NPR gives the best book recommendations. I first heard about The Help
on the Diane Rehm show and am currently reading The Bells. I'm 100 pages in and loving every word.

7. I'm dying to go on vacation. If you're planning a vacation soon tell me about it so I can live vicariously through you. Either that or tell Jus to get on the ball and take me far, far away.

8. I finally got the haircut I've been dying for. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted but bangs were on the table and at the last minute I decided to go for it.

9. I was sort of worried that my bangs weren't thick enough and was considering taking the scissors to them. I was contemplating out loud when Jus said that my hair looked like Grace Potter's. This might have been the best compliment he could have given me.

10. Tomorrow is the last day to enter the handmade giveaway! There are lots of ways to win & three different prizes!

Hair's the Thing

Two years ago my stylist and I were talking about my hair and my addiction to length change, at the time my hair was shoulder length and my stylist asked me to try and grow it longer. I decided that I'd grow it until I got married. A year later I was itching to cut it all off when Jus proposed.
At that point I started to grow out my layers and as my hair grew down my back my curls loosened up. A week before the wedding my wedding day stylist declared that she needed to cut a couple of inches off of my length in order to fit all of my hair in my updo.

(This is the longest my hair has ever been!)

My beautiful wedding hair

The month and a half since the wedding I have suffered through long, layerless hair. It hasn't been very curly and it has been very tangley and frizzy. Last Wednesday I had finally had enough, I needed a haircut and I needed one now! (Do you ever get it in your head that you NEED a haircut that very day?)
I called around and being the day before Thanksgiving all of the salons were either booked solid or closed. I finally remembered that one of our friend's friends used to be a stylist and still has a little salon in his basement. I called him as I was leaving work and went immediately.
I was in and out in a half hour with 4 less inches for $10 and in the week that has followed I couldn't be happier with my cut!
Short hair is so freeing!
(And no, I'm not naked)

Do you make rash hair decisions?

A Hair-story

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for entering!

Hooray! It's (almost) the weekend! I've got a bridal shower for my BFF tomorrow and Sunday we are supposed to take engagement pictures (the forecast isn't looking to good, so we might push them back a week).

Lately I've gotten a couple of comments about my hair so I thought I'd do a little post about it.
Curly 3-year-old Cole

I've got naturally curly hair and until earlier this year I have never found anyone with similar hair. I used to hate it, I'd offer to shave my head and give my hair to someone if they said they wished theirs was curly, but now I really love my hair.
My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. It turns into what I call "porcelain doll" curls (Barrel curls) with the littlest amount of product but will loose it's curl as soon as I run my hands through it.
4 times out of 5 I'll wear my hair curly but I like to straighten it whenever I feel like dressing up (or when I'm feeling too lazy to shower-lame, I know). Jus also really likes it straight, he says it frames my face better.
Crazy hair

These are the hair products in our bathroom.

I try to switch shampoos every bottle since my hair tends to get used to a product and stops responding to it.
When I straighten my hair I use Garnier Sleek & Shine smoothing milk. I just got a Baybliss straightening iron, it's so important to have a good iron! A ceramic straightener that has consistent heat so you don't fry your hair keeps it healthy.
Straight hair, silly face, polka dot pajamas

For curly hair I've used ghd's Sea Spray for the past 3 years, I love sprays because they are so light and don't weigh down my curls, and this spray gives you that sexy beach hair. (I LOVE beach hair!)
Lately my hair hasn't been loving the Sea Spray so I've switched to Fekkai's glossing cream which gives my hair lots of moisture and shines up my curls. Mostly, I just try to keep the product light so my curls won't get weighed down.
Weirdly loose curls are common

I also get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks to keep the curls in check, my hair has tons of long layers to ensure that the top doesn't get too weighed down.
So there you go, that's the deal on my hair, it's taken me years to get it right and I feel pretty happy with where my hair is now.

Sure, there are days where it looks pretty bad, but those are the days I throw something beautiful in my hair. Something beautiful like one of lovely pieces in Plume Delight's etsy shop.
Plume Delight is a store that offers gorgeous handmade hair pieces made from peacock feathers, just check out some of this loveliness.

And now one of you will be lucky enough to add Plume Delight's "Cherie" to your wardrobe!

Could it be any more beautiful? I gasped the first time I saw this piece and keep dreaming about wearing it down the aisle.
And now for the logistics of how to win your very own peacock flume:

Step 1- Be a follower of this blog
Step 2- Check out Plume Delight's shop
Step 3- Leave a comment telling me where you'd wear this beauty
