Finally Friday

I don't know about you but this week has been going incredibly slowly for me. On Tuesday I thought it was Monday, on Wednesday I thought it was Thursday and on Thursday I had to ask what day it was.
Not only that but the weather has been a prime example of why I hate spring (I know, I know, it's weird to hate the season of rebirth). The beginning of the week was in the upper 70s and yesterday it snowed, last night they called for frost and tomorrow is supposed to be 68. I love the flowers that come with spring but can't stand the bipolar weather.
Ok, enough whining. I'll start looking through some rosy colored glasses.

I'm actually pretty excited for this weekend. My parents are leaving tomorrow morning for a trip to Florida. They're going to spend some time at a resort called Little Palm Island and they deserve a relaxing trip!

Since they'll be out of town I'll be picking up the slack at the restaurant and Sunday I'm heading down to Indianapolis to spend some time with Banan. I also get to go to my favorite antique mall!
I've been thinking up some new series for Adventures in Love & Happiness and will be sure to fill you in next week!
Have a great weekend! I hope your weather is more cooperative than ours is.
Do you have something super fun planned for this weekend?

Happy Friday

Hooray! It's Friday!
For some reason this week seemed super long to me.
I went shopping, jumped around, celebrated my dad's birthday, gave a pin away, almost froze, reminisced about my childhood, shared our experience of finding a wedding photographer, and last night I spent a couple of hours making my little blog a little prettier.
What do you think? Honestly, I'm kind of on the fence and have another idea or two.
I also made a button that I'd love for you to grab & put it on your blog.

Tomorrow Jus & I are headed to Grand Rapids, MI for a concert, we're both pretty excited, it's been a while since we've gotten out of town & gone to a concert (2 things we love to do).

Edie went to the vet this morning to get spayed, if you get some time would you send her some love & prayers? I'm still a little scarred from what happened to Keegan.
Have a great weekend, do something fun, bundle up, and eat something decadent for me.

PS Tomorrow is a 50% off day at Goodwill.

Something New

Okie Doke folks, I'm gonna level with you. I've been having a little relationship on the side of this lovely little blog.
About a month ago I started a wedding blog called Jus Hearts Cole. It's still in its very early stages but my posting there is about to pick up and I thought it might be fun if you were along for the ride.
I've also been tweeting for a little while now. I know I'm way behind the curve but thought I'd give it a shot, so if you're interested in following me check me out @colekbl.
So that's the news from* here. Have a happy Thursday.

*I was very tempted to put "That's the news from Lake Woebegon**, where all the women are strong, all the men good looking, and all the children are above average."

**Jus & I love to listen to Garrison Keillor on road trips.

Take a break

Yesterday was a little hectic for me. We're meeting with wedding photographers today so last night we started talking about budgets and in typical Cole fashion I started freaking out.
So I took a break from freaking out and decided to wrap some Christmas presents.

But then my back started to hurt.
So I took a break from wrapping presents to check out Weddingbee.
While I was browsing there I found this post about Sandol Stoddard Warburg's book I Like You and it was so lovely that I wanted to share this darling book with you.

I Like You by Sandol Stoddard Warburg
I like you,
And I know why.

I like you because
When I tell you something special,
You know it’s special,
And you remember it
A long, long time.

You say,
Remember when you told me
Something special?

And both of us remember.

When I think something is important,
You think it’s important too.

We have good ideas.

When I say something funny,
You laugh.
I think I’m funny and
You think I’m funny too.

You know how to be silly.
That’s why I like you.
Boy are you ever silly.
I never met anybody sillier than me til I met you.

I like you because
You know when it’s time to stop being silly.

Maybe day after tomorrow.
Maybe never.

And I like you because
If we go away together,
And if we are in Grand Central Station,
And if I get lost,
Then you are the one that is yelling for me.

And I like you because
When I am feeling sad,
You don’t always cheer me up right away.
Sometimes it is better to be sad.
You can’t stand the others being so googly and gaggly every single minute.
You want to think about things.
It takes time.

I like you because if I am mad at you,
Then you are mad at me too.
It’s awful when the other person isn’t.
They are so nice and hoo-hoo and you could just about punch them in the nose.

If you find two four-leaf clovers,
You give me one.
If I find four,
I give you two.
If we only find three,
We keep on looking.
Sometimes we have good luck,
And sometimes we don’t.

I like you because
I don’t know why, but
Everything that happens
Is nicer with you.

I can’t remember when I didn’t like you.
It must have been lonesome then.

I like you because, because, because…
I forget why I like you,
But I do.
So many reasons.

On the Fourth of July,
I like you because
It’s the Fourth of July.
On the Fifth of July,
I like you too.
If you and I had some drums
And some horns and some horses,
If we had some hats and some
Flags and some fire engines,
We could be a HOLIDAY!
We could be a CELEBRATION!
We could be a WHOLE PARADE!
See what I mean?
Even if it was the nine hundred and ninety-ninth of July,
Even if it was August,
Even if it was way down at the bottom of November,
Even if it was no place particular in January,
I would go on choosing you,
And you would go on choosing me,
Over and over again.

That’s how it would happen every time.
I don’t know why.

I guess I don’t know why I like you, really.
Why do I like you?
I guess I just like you,
Because I like you.

This is how I like Jus, I hope you like someone like this too.

Wishing for a Winter Wonderland

So the other day the weather man said that we were supposed to get some snow accumulation this week and I can't tell you how excited I am. Last year winter seemed to last FOR-EV-ER. Seriously, we had had 14 inches of snow by this point (keep in mind this is Indiana, not Colorado or Alaska) and winter lasted well into March.
Maybe it's a little early, maybe I'm a little crazy but I'm totally craving snuggly sweaters, snow angels, Christmas trees and sparkles.*
So here's some wintery lovelies to feast your eyes on...

Oh how I wish we could have a fire place to snuggle up in front of.

Would you ever stay in an ice hotel? I'd be up for a night.

When was the last time you made one?

And the lights, oh the lights.

Have I mentioned I'm excited for winter & Christmas? I'm itching to decorate but making myself wait until next weekend.

Have a great weekend, do something that really makes you happy.

*Isn't everything about winter just sparkly?

Happy Friday

I don't know about you but I am super glad it's Friday, this week has kicked my butt and I have no clue why. So I'll just leave you with some lovelies so you don't think I'm Miss Crankerpants.

Oh, love, you are a sweet thing...

Here comes my love, I suppose he'll get a kiss.

Oooo maybe if I curl up for a nap I'll wake up here
via You Are My Fave (which is definitely my new fave)

Ever since I saw the Franco Albini ottoman on The Brick House I have been hoping to walk into a thrift store and find one of these babies for $10
via The Brick House (one of my old new faves)

Needless to say I am about 95% sure that this won't go with our style, and I am about 97% sure I'll never find one in a thrift store and about 99.99% sure I will never find one for $10.

I think I've changed my mind on how to decorate the bedroom* and now I need a crewel bedspread.

That's right, NEED!

The other night Jus and I watched Away We Go, which is a lovely movie with lovely music

Go ahead, take a minute or 6 to listen, it'll make you smile.

And last but not least, have an awesome Halloween weekend.

I hope you get some treats and not tricks, and no, Edie isn't dressing up this year.

Happy Monday

Driving home from Chicago last night Jus and I were still laughing about Robin Williams. If you ever get to see him live do it! If you can't see him live then watch Robin Williams Live on Broadway.
After we saw him Jus & I went for some deep dish pizza at Giordano's

My happy camper after pizza and beer

The next morning we decided to go to Superdawg.

We'd seen it on a show* about hot dogs and thought it would be fun to go.

My superdawg is topped by onions, relish, mustard and a pickle.
After our superdawgs we tried to find our mirror and I tried to find a new purse. Pottery Barn didn't have Eleanor in stock and I couldn't find a purse so that means there will be some online shopping this week...

My Love for today: The girls have been spending the weekend with my parents so Jack has been up and around, I think he's enjoying being an only child...and I'm enjoying the mix of black and white patterns in our house.
My Happiness for today: I have had a productive morning, and I'm about to go treasure hunting & grocery shopping.

*Ironically we tend to make fun of people that visit my parent's restaurant just because they saw us on Food Network.

Bits & Pieces

Well, since Project Runway is on tonight I figured I should show you the outfit I was loving so much last week.
Isn't Shirin talented? And this picture doesn't even show the beautiful stitching at the waist. I can't wait for tonight's episode, I think the designers are very talented this year.

I saw this before and after project by a woman named Karen on Design*Sponge today, isn't the paper great?

This table is available at darling octopus decor on etsy. I think I might have to start following Karen's blog, its looks like it could make me happy.

This picture made Jus & I laugh, don't you just feel sorry for that kid?

Tonight my mom brought by some blueberries and this beaut.

She found it at a garage sale and the lady that sold it said this is the best type of cooker, so it looks like I'll have to find a good recipe.

I've been wanting to try this out, not for the engagement part,* just the part that looks yummy.

My Love for tonight: My little sis came home for Labor Day weekend, even though she's only been at school for a couple of weeks I have really missed her
My Happiness for tonight: I love that I am starting to collect aqua cookware.

*Jus don't freak out, I'm not going to do some voodoo magic to get a ring on it.
