Real People in Love: Micaela & Max

I'm still kind of unsure about the name of my guest blogger series, but I'm incredibly excited to continue the series.
The first couple I am featuring for this series (which I've tentatively called Real People in Love) is Micaela & Max. Micaela is the wonderful voice behind Dolce Vita I love hearing about her life, love & pup. And come on, us engaged girls have to stick together!

How old are you & Max?
I'm 25 and my fiance Max is 34.

What are your occupations?
He's a meteorologist at a local news station. I'm still looking for a job after moving last month, but before moving here- I worked in Public Relations and wrote Mayoral proclamations and press releases for the news media in Texas. (I absolutely LOVED my job)

How did you meet?
I was working as a news reporter/weekend morning anchor at a TV station in my hometown in Texas. He took a job there as the morning meteorologist. (He once told me he believed he moved to TX to meet me.) I told him we were going to be the best of friends and he thought I was crazy. Fortunately, I was right, and now I'm engaged to my best friend.

Define Love:
The best thing about me, is him. Love is feeling like he is God's blessing for my life. I never knew what unconditional love was until I met my husband-to-be.

What's the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
Fighting. It may sound like a weird answer, but when you're in a committed relationship, you want to work it out. In the past, I wouldn't always "fight fair." When Max and I were dating, i was the one who "wouldn't want to talk it out." Before, when I was single and we'd fight, I would leave and have a drink with my girlfriends. It was tough for me to "grow up" and realize that being selfish and going out wasn't the solution. Learning to communicate and be less selfish, less "destructive" was the toughest part, but also the most effective part in our relationship.

What is the best part?
Being Max's co-pilot in life.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
Besides the night we got engaged, my 25th birthday. Max surprised me with two suite tickets to my first ever Dallas Maverick's Basketball game. (I am a hugeee fan! My puppy's name is Maverick, and she's a girl) We stayed the night in Dallas at the W hotel {gorgeous hotel}. We had the game that night, and the next morning he booked me an hour massage at the Bliss spa. It was an unforgettable birthday.

What makes you different from other couples?
How very close we are to both our families. I love this about us. When we lived in Texas, we always had dinner at my parent's. Now that we live in Virginia, we always have dinner at his parent's. :) I value family and am so glad we share that quality. (and thankfully, he is no Momma's boy lol) And we're totally opposites. I'm an outgoing dreamer while he's a homebody and logical-for us, we equal each other out. Maybe that's why we work...perhaps there's something to that saying, "opposites attract."

What is the most essential element of making it?
Working through the big things and not sweating the small stuff. Compromise; and being each other's biggest fan.

What is your favorite thing to do together?
Lately it's getting in our matching snuggies (a Christmas gift from his parents! LOL i love it-mine is pink, his is blue) and laying on the couch catching up on "Dexter." I love the road trips we've taken, and exploring our new city while holding hands. I never want to stop holding hands.

Do you have a song?
When we got engaged my twin sister played "Come Away with Me" by Norah Jones for us. It was truly perfect, because we got engaged on my last night in Texas and were hitting the road the next morning.

What are your hopes for the future?
I hope we have a beautiful wedding to start our happy lives as Mr. & Mrs. I hope our future is filled with minnie us's, and little adventures.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
That love TRULY does make the world go round... but it takes work. It's a choice.

I really like this couple just because my S is much older than I am too. It's nice to see so many similarities especially in the fighting realm. It took me a while to "grow up" and not pout so much. Thanks for sharing! (and now a new blog to go check out!)

Oh, I am so happy that you have interviewed Micaela! She is the BEST, super awesome girl!!!! (and I like the title for this series that you are using tentatively!) I also didn't know that there was an age difference between her and Max which is nice to know because there is a considerable one between me and Andy! Thanks for this post! Luv ya (both u girls, Cole and Micaela!!!)
