Real People in Love: Brandi & Jacob

When I was thinking of couples I wanted to feature in the Real People in Love Series the adorable sisters from Mucho Mucho Bueno Bueno were on my list of must haves.
So this week's Real People are Brandi & Jacob. They are one of the most gorgeous, real, and FUN couples I have seen.

How old are you & Jacob?
I am 28, Jacob is 29.

How long have you been together?
We have been together since June 2005, married on February 22, 2008.

What are your occupations?
We are both self employed. I am a hairstylist, I have a salon called Sunchild Salon. Jacob is a session musician and plays in a band called The 71s.

How did you meet?
My cousin Taylor introduced us. They are both musicians and we actually met 10 years ago but both didn't remember. When I moved back from Colorado my cousin Taylor and I rented this awesome house in Montrose. One day he came to my work and brought his friend Jacob with him. I recognized him from metro (a huge bible study), at this point I texted my cousin saying he's cute but not my type (lie). I went to my cousin's show and Jacob's band was also playing. Jacob and his brother ended up sleeping on our couch that night so they didn't have to drive home late, this happened again the following weekend. Jacob asked my cousin if he had a chance with me but my cousin said no, sorry dud, she only likes tall surfer/skater boys. Jacob replied with "Well, tell her I snowboard." I was so clueless that Jacob liked me, even when he gave me a rose one night I just passed it off to a friend and said I hate roses.

Define Love:
Love=awesome, unconditional, amazing, patient, strong, trusting, caring, understanding

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
Communication. Sometimes I just assume Jacob knows what I'm thinking because he knows me so well but that's not the case. Jacob and I have to work on communicating every day.

What is the best part?
Having a best friend and someone accepting you and your flaws, having someone to share your life with, the giggles right before you go to bed, or the silliness right when you wake up.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
We've had so many: the day we got engaged, the day we got married, beautiful picnics in the park, the list could go on and on, but truthfully neither one of us believe that we have had our best day yet.

What makes you different from other couples?
1. We did not have sex with each other before we got married.
2. We believe it is up to us to keep our relationship fun and exciting, you have to work at it.
3. We went on our honeymoon with friends. (It was so much fun! Kylle and Haley, we love you!)

What is your favorite thing to do together?
We love to travel together, especially to beaches and mountains or anywhere we can experience nature together and spend time with good friends! We also love long-boarding in Hawaii, dancing crazy in the subway in Paris, or doing flips on the beach in Mexico...Oh yeah, and we love trying new foods together.

Do you have a song?
We have many.
The first time he told me he liked me we were at House of Pies and Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love" was on. We were laughing because the words were so sweet and he was singing to me, then the chorus came on "feel like making love" and we were like "Too soon, too soon!" Haha.
Bob Marley's "Is This Love," I walked down the aisle to this (my cousin and friend sang it)
"Jamocha"-I wrote this song for Jacob
(Note from Cole: Brandi included a link to a video but it was way too cute so I had to include it in this post for you, do yourself a favor and watch it, I'm pretty sure I choked up)

What is the most essential element of making it?
Having God at the center of your marriage and TRUST.

What are your hopes for the future?
My hopes are to make Jacob feel like superman and to have a very close family, maybe 2 kids, continue to travel.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
Yeah, love is a choice, not a feeling, you have to work at it, love isn't perfect. When you find it, appreciate it and don't take it for granted.

i love that you want to make your husband feel like superman... or that you guys waited to have sex til after you were married. ROMANTIC. Special. or that you honeymooned with friends. My twin sister always says she wishes me and my then-boyfriend had gone on their cruise :)

so i get that.
