Real People in Love: Vicky & Matt

I can't tell you how excited I was when Vicky, of City Cradle Design contacted me to be part of the Real People in Love series. Vicky & her husband, Matt, make such a cute couple and together they have adorable twins. Vicky is a very talented designer and if you haven't had the fortune of seeing her talents head over to City Cradle Design and check it out!

How old are you & Matt?
Me (Vicky) and Matt (the hubby) are 29. We actually share the same birthday. We were born in the same hospital even just 1/2 an hour apart. He is 32 minutes older than me. After birth we actually did not meet each other again until at college, when we started dating freshman year.

What are your occupations?
I am a mom to twin toddlers, and event designer, and a newbie at party design blogging. Most of my time is spent at home rolling around with the babies and typing away at the computer. My husband just recently altered his job to complete his Masters in Divinity degree so along with working in investments he is a full time student.

How did you meet?
We met in college through a mutual friend. I wasn't that interested to begin with but after the first date (involving swings in the park) I was smitten and done.

Define Love:
A gift of grace given from above to make right our broken hearts.

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
The continual pursuance of the other's desires, and preferences. Learning to be selfless when you want to be selfish.

What is the best part?
Having someone connected to you enough to honestly care and even feel the joys and pains of life with you. Having someone to walk with you on the mountains and in the valleys and enjoying someone to share the view from both places with.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
Hands down our wedding. It was magical and beautiful and it felt like the whole world was wrapped up on our love that day.

What makes you different from other couples?
We are honestly trying to love and serve each other, to remain faithful to the covenant of marriage and to continually pursue our love in a world that often seems against it. Plus we were born on the same day, in the same hospital and we have twins-so they also have the same birthday- if that is not unique fate I don't know what is :)

What is your favorite thing to do together?
Chase sunsets at the beach- we love running out to watch the sun dip below the ocean but seem to always be just a few minutes late and miss it- the story of our life... it is lovely though just to chase after them together. Then we eat burritos with our feet in the sand.

Do you have a song?
Our wedding song was "This Road" by Jars of Clay. We took ballroom dancing lessons and then Matt choreographed a waltz with multiple dips!

What is the most essential element of making it?
Commitment to the covenant you made when times are hard and fully rejoicing in the moments of joy when they wash over you.

Also you need to laugh at each other's jokes, it is essential to happiness!

What are your hopes for the future?
That we would remain faithful to loving one another. That we would raise our babies up in love and grace. That we would finish well, in love and holding hands.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
It is a gift of grace to have, it is given from God and it is to be handed out with joy!

As always, if you'd like to participate in the Real People in Love series, just shoot me an email!
