Real People in Love: Kaley & Adam

I can't tell you how much I love the Real People in Love series. Every week I get to feature real people that are willing to open up about themselves and teach us all a little about how to make love work in the real world.
Kaley & Adam, otherwise known as the Rogue Poags, are no exception. The love these two share is obvious and more than love you can tell they have fun with each other and are building a wonderful family.
Kaley & Adam are the last couple I have lined up for Real People in Love so if you'd like to participate send me an email. I'd love to feature you & your love!

How old are you & Adam?
Adam and I are both 26, he turns 27 in January!

How long have you been together?
We've been together for 8 years.

What are your occupations?
He is an electrician and I work for the US House of Representatives. (Accounting, borrrring!)

How did you meet?
We met in church youth group (when we were around sixteen) through mutual friends!

How did you get engaged?
We got engaged in Myrtle Beach! It was our first vacation alone and one morning he woke me up (he was making breakfast) and told me to go check out what some kids had written in the sand below our balcony. Of course, I had forgotten my glasses in the bedroom so I turned around to go get them and he was down on one knee! Once I got my glasses on and looked down on the beach, I saw where he had gotten up before me and went down to write "Kaley Salene, will you marry me?" :)

Tell us about your wedding day (not necessarily elements but feelings too):
Our wedding day was pretty perfect for us. It was a year later, back in Myrtle Beach with our friends and most of our family. We spent the day laying on the beach and of course I had butterflies all day! I couldn't believe I was getting married that evening. We went up from the beach early and got ourselves ready. We went back down to the beach at 6:00 and became husband and wife. It was one of the happiest moments of my life!

Define Love:
Love is that feeling you get when you know you'd do anything for that person. You would put your own life on the line just to make them happy. Not being able to imagine your life without them in it. Being able to comfort one another without saying a single word. Love is more than actions and words, it's an almost indescribable feeling.

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
I think the toughest part of being in a relationship is remembering you have another person to consider. It's hard for me to drop everything for a spontaneous girls night because I have him (and now our son) to consider. People who aren't in a relationship often don't understand.

What is the best part?
The best part is always having someone there for you. Someone who loves you when you look or feel your absolute worst. A partner in crime and a knight in shining armor. Someone to give you a hug on a bad day. Someone to fight with and know that when it's all said and done, you'll be back to lovin' without remembering what you were even fighting about. Someone to share your highs and lows with. Just having someone to completely and entirely rely on.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
The day our son was born, definitely. Although it was very overwhelming and hectic, a new love was formed FROM us and it's a feeling unlike any other.

What makes you different from other couples?
Something that makes us different from other couples is the fact we have tons in common. A lot of couples don't enjoy the same things, hence the opposites attract statement, but Adam & I are very much alike. You would think that we'd clash, but it works for us!

What is your favorite thing to do together?
Our favorite thing to do together (aside from the day to day hanging out in our living room playing with Kullen) is trying new food and wines. We like to think of ourselves as amateur food and wine connoisseur!

Do you have a song?
Our song is "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. Every line in that song seems like it was written for just us and the minute we both heard it we knew it was our song!

What is the most essential element of making it?
Compromise, for sure. If you are too selfish to sacrifice to make your mate happy, it won't work!

What are your hopes for the future?
Continued happiness and health for us and Kullen! More babies (ahem, anytime now, uterus) and maybe tons of money too! :)

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
Love is magical! It takes work and patience but it's all worth it. It's the one gift that never leaves you.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a new PACKAGE EXCHANGE!
