My Husband is a Lot of Things

My husband is a lot of things, incredibly caring, a wonderful guitar play, a killer dry waller, but one thing he is not is a reader. Or perhaps I should say was not a reader.

A couple of weeks ago Jus picked up The Last of the Tribe and finished it in 3 days. Reading until the wee hours of the night is my territory but with this book Jus stayed up until 4 one night.
We're trying to find another nonfiction book that Jus will enjoy as much as he enjoyed The Last of the Tribe so help us out, what do the men in your life like to read?

I'm no help, the only books I've gotten my hubs to read is the Harry Potter books.

My man likes to read Tom Clancy. :) But right now he's reading George W. Bush's biography. He likes it.

Hello! Just stumbled upon your blog :) My Hubbie only reads non fiction, usually local history or Cold War related..I have managed to get him to read Roddy Doyle in the past..only cos he's a huge fan of the film..The Commitments..

My hubs goes through major reading streaks, and then doesn't read for ages. His favorites are non fiction. He loves Obama's books - mostly because they are memoir style, like all his faves. What is the What by Dave Eggers is one of his favorites, and he loves Travels with Charley by Stienback (he packs up and travels around the US with his old poodle. classic man and dog story - but made better by Stienback!). He also loves Mendela's, MLK's, and Gahndi's autobios. Is Jus a pacifist like my boy? Because he'll love those!

That's excellent! I truly think couples who read together, stay together. In the early days when my boyf and I first started dating, we used to spend evenings reading out loud to each other from whatever book we happened to be reading, whatever passages struck our fancy. And like Krysten above me, I got him to read Harry Potter AND even converted him into a die-hard Harry Potter fan. I consider it one of my proudest achievements to date. ;)

I'm lucky, R is a reader, too! It takes him a lot longer to finish books, though, so I always get to read them first. :)

my boyf doesn't read either (except magazines and the news on his phone, so... at least he's well informed), but he has read Devil in the White City by Erik Larson and loved it. it's nonfiction and Larson uses a BA way of tying fact facts and fact stories together.

(also, you known janie, i know janie, and through her blog i stumbled on your blog. just a little fyi :].)
