Framed.

Now that the stairs are painted I find myself staring at the 18 foot ceilings and wondering what the heck we are going to do to fill the space.

Last week I remembered one of my inspirations from a long time ago. (You know, way back when we had a teensy little house.)

The frame wall.

I'm pretty excited about making an empty frame wall on our stairs. I think the frames will add a beautiful pattern to the wall and will be a great way to cover this much space.

What's one of your favorite ways to decorate a large wall?

oooo I like the first and third one (frames).

It's a great idea.

I have a fairly large open wall right when you walk into my apt. and originally we put wall decals on it... they fell down all the time (since they were from IKEA) and we ended up taking them down, so I developed a few pics of me and my boyfriend and all the animals in our life and put them in a circular pattern on the wall. It turned out great and the intention was to continue to add to it with more pictures and frames of family and friends... but I never got around to it. We're moving in the next 6ish months...so I will probably wait until we find a new place before I take on more projects.

I really like the empty frame idea!

That is such a great idea. Are you going to put pictures in any of them or just leave them blank. I kind of like the blank look. It's different in a good way.

I love the frame wall idea! Another item I would use for a big blank wall is wallpaper. But, that might get tricky with the stairs...

I love this idea! It will look great in your house, fits in perfectly. Scouring yard sales or thrift stores/antique shops and you'll find plenty of frames. :)

Love the idea! It will be a clean but interesting look. Good luck in your frame hunting!

This is a cool idea! It was odd to me at first to see frames without photos, but I think it can look really nice. I especially love the more neutral colored ones!

I love, love, love the empty frame idea to fill up giant walls, especially by a staircase...so perfect for your house! I don't think you could find a cheaper way to make such a big impact! What color are you thinking of painting them?

I just adore frame walls. Our apartment now has CEMENT walls, which makes it impossible to hang pretty much anything. It bums me out because I'd love to this as well! I think it'd look great by your stairs.

This is something I have been thinking about a ton because....I just moved our stuff into our first apartment and I realized we have NOTHING haha.

I can't imagine having 18 food ceilings!

oh those are all so fun! I'm not too sure i could go with nothing in them myself. maybe in a bedroom. when we got our house i did a photo wall, i love it. I keep adding to it. i'm sort of starting to run out of wall but it's such a great time. here's the link if you want to check it out. http://captivecreativity.blogspot.com/2010/08/my-inspiration-my-finished-photo-wall.html
