Real People in Love: Amanda & Jason

This week's Real People in Love are the adorable Amanda & Jason from Wandering Thoughts of a Scientific Housewife. I've followed Amanda's blog for a while now and I couldn't be happier to have this could as a part of this series.

How old are you & Jason?
I am 26 and Jason is 28.

How long have you been together?
We've been married almost 3 years and together 5 1/2.

When's your anniversary?
April 19, 2009

What are your occupations?
Jason is a Customer Service Rep and I am a Research Scientist

How did you meet?
We actually met through a mutual friend after a Dane Cook concert on the campus of our alma mater, USF.

How did you get engaged?
He waited until midnight on Valentine's Day to give me my present and when I opened my eyes, he was kneeling beside my bed with a ring in his hand and telling me the most beautiful things. I was speechless at first but I eventually said yes!

Tell us about your wedding day (not necessarily elements but feelings too):
I remember being worried about the weather because it was an outdoor ceremony and it had been cloudy all day. I was never nervous, just excited and anxious to marry my best friend. Jason was cool and collected and had fun spending the time before with his friends. Before I walked down the aisle, the sun came out and the rest of the ceremony was short and sweet. The string trio played "All You Need is Love" while we walked away a married couple. The reception was beautiful and we were able to dance, eat our delicious food, and go to every table to thank everyone for coming. Everything turned out beautifully and we were so happy to start our new lives together.

Define Love:
Love to me is being with someone you care about and the feelings you get when you're with them and thinking about them. It's so many things and yet it's also so simple.

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
Making decisions and communication can be tough. We are both hard-headed and indecisive so it can be hard to get things done but we always laugh about it afterwards.

What is the best part?
Having someone to be there for you and support you no matter what you do. When that person is your best friend, it makes you feel great that you can share anything with them.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
Other than our wedding day, I'd say the day we moved into our first home. It was so surreal and we kept asking ourselves if it was actually happening. To have a place of our own, it really made us feel like married adults.

What makes you different from other couples?
We are sickeningly lovey to each other, both at home and around friends. No inappropriate PDA, just stolen kisses and lots of hand holding. We are also homebodies and incredibly goofy people.

What is your favorite thing to do together?
We like to go to football games, movies, hang out with friends, and just spend time at home.

Do you have a song?
We don't have an official song but All You Need is Love has a lot of sentimental value for us.

What is the most essential element of making it?
I believe honesty is the most essential. It took years to get Jason to completely trust me due to his past relationships and it's something I cherish. Us trusting each other keeps our relationship going and lets us meet hurdles as they come.

What are your hopes for the future?
Right now, we are planning a big trip to California since we haven't gotten to travel much. After that, we will be saving up money and thinking about children down the road. Right now, we are just having fun and enjoying each other.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
If you're in love, you know how amazing it feels. In my experience, when I stopped actively looking for love, it came to me, so try it out!

As always, if you'd like to participate in the Real People in Love series, just shoot me an email!
