I'll start by saying that this post is going to disappoint my mom, my little sister Banan, BFF Beth, and any of you that are dying to see what our children will look like.

Jus & I aren't ready to have kids. We're definitely in the some day category but not yet.

We are still too selfish. We like to go to concerts, out to bars, and to expensive dinners.

I like not having to compete with anyone for Jus's attention and he likes sleeping in until 1.

Luckily people usually wait until you've been married for longer than 5 months before asking when you'll start making babies but that doesn't mean I don't get asked a couple of times a week.

When people do ask we remind them that we have the Behemoth and that child rearing in a construction zone is rather dangerous.

Aditionally, I have a birth control implant that was rather expensive and I've deicded I'm not pulling it before it's expiration date.

So children will have to wait.

Wait for us to finish the Behemoth.

Wait for us to see all of the concerts we want to see. (ha, like that could ever happen)

Wait for us to feel like grown-ups. ("feel like" not "be")

Unless, whoever is in charge up there decides that we are ready before we are and then we'll draft some names, paint a room and jump up and down for joy.

Especially if it's gauranteed that our babies will be this sweet.

Right there with you lady.... I'd like to have a baby but Dustin and I are WAY too selfish to have one yet!

Amen. I agree with Krysten - I tell people all the time that we're too selfish. We are getting closer (we've been married going on 6 years!) but we still enjoy all the things you mentioned. Sorry to say though - it only gets worse.

We're in the same spot as you guys... I constantly have to slow my family down, even if I'd like to ready, I'm just not. <3

Your sister's comment on this post is hilarious!

Good for you for not letting the pressure get to you! MUCH better to be selfish now, before the kids arrive :)

I agree with Banan, lame-o. I saw the heading and thought I had to go buy some cute baby things :) But in all seriousness, don't wait too long, my future babies will need playmates.

They think it's lame now, wait until you've been married over a year, then they'll really be bugging you for a baby! Stand your ground, enjoy sleeping in and going to concerts!! Then you'll treasure those bedtime stories and early morning pancake making laughs when they come!

5 months?! People barely waited 5 minutes to start nagging us about babies. We feel like we're almost there, just have a few things we need to get out of our system yet.

I find this the most horrifying part of society (ok - that's not true. murder and crime and kidnappings...) But who says it's ok to just go around asking personal questions about other people's future.

That is to say. I don't want children. Ever.

ahem. apparently this still rattles me.

Lady, you have all the time in the world. And I'm right there with you. Do I want kids? Sure, one day. NOT TODAY. And sure as heck not 5 months after I get married! You need to enjoy being newlyweds!!

Hi, there! New Twitter follower here... I'm Rachel!

I hear ya on the baby thing. My husband and I were only married 1.5 years when our son was born. Things are very... different now! Fun, but different : )

Those two kids in that picture sure are cute though!

Amen, lady! I hate being asked constantly, but am a firm believer in doing what works best for me:)

oh i am so on board with you! we've been married for almost 2 years now and i'm getting asked more and more and well, i really hate it. i'm starting to just let it be, not get so annoyed (what's the point?)and just remember people that 1) there's more to marriage/life then having babies and completing the "next step" and that we have a plan that i'm very into sticking with.

We are also way too selfish and have lots we want to do too (before babies)

That is completely understandable! It's always better to wait to make a gigantic, life-altering decision until you feel like it's the right thing for you :)

oh so with you. chris and i just decided that 30 sounds like a nice, happy age for kids. it's also 5 years away, which is a plus.
