Real People in Love: Sydney & Tyson

Back in March the beautiful Sydney contacted me about participating in the Real People in Love series and I'm so glad she did. Sydney is the girl behind The Daybook, where she captures the sweet days of her life with her husband, Tyson.

How old are you & Tyson?
Tyson is 24 and I am 21.

How long have you been together?
We have been married for two years but have been together for about 3.

What are your occupations?
We are currently both still students with only two semesters left (thank heavens!) He's in Business working for a contracting company this summer and I'm a photographer (kind of unofficially) and a graphic designer.

How did you meet?
We met the very first day of school, first year in college. In a University I.D. line to be exact. (fate, right?)
He said, "Hey do I know you from somewhere"
She said, "Probably not"
He said, "Well... wanna get dinner sometime?"
She said, "Ok"
Rest is history.

How did you get engaged?
Tyson and I were in one of the same classes together that year. One activity that was required for the class was to blindfold yourself for two hours straight and then write a paper on your experience without sight. The Mister took advantage of the opportunity when it was my turn to be blindfolded and drove me to our most favorite place in the world, a hill overlooking the valley where we had spent a lot of time getting to know each other. There he got down on one knee and surprised me (and I mean SURPRISED... I had thought we were going to the grocery store!) with a beautiful proposal and a stunning ring. It was simple, it was intimate and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Tell us about your wedding day:
Our wedding day was LOVE. Simple and sweet and in, what I'd like to think was it's purest form. It was full of family and friends who had traveled miles and miles and put their lives on hold to be there with us on that special day. It was full of laughter and exquisite happiness and celebration. I felt lucky, blessed really, and completely enraptured with the man that was now going to be mine forever, sealed together with a simple "Yes" Yes... I will love you, cherish you, respect you, be honest with you, be loyal to you, put you first above all others, through every good time and bad. You are my one.

Define Love:
It is human fuel.

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
Learning to share everything. Especially when it comes to favorite treats and such. That's not any fun.

What is the best part?
As cliche as it is, the best part EVER is just getting to be with your best friend day in and day out.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
Can I narrow it down to top three?
#1. The day he proposed to me for the second time on our 2-year engagement anniversary. This time, with a wedding band.
#2. The day we made up from a very big fight and realized that nothing would ever be enough to break us apart.
#3. The day at the beach in North Carolina when we threw a football back and forth to each other over and over just talking and laughing and getting completely soaked by the surf.

What makes you different from other couples?
We both hate cooking and love eating. Kind of a loose-loose. Normally one spouse loves to cook and the other one loves to eat and vice-versa. But nope. Not us, we do things the hard way.

What is your favorite thing to do together?
Basically breathing. There's nothing we don't like doing together.

Do you have a song?
Jon McLaughlin's "So Close"

What is the most essential element of making it?
Service. You know what's interesting about marriage? Is that although you are always completely in love with your spouse 100% of the time, (or at least we are) you don't always remember to be as enraptured with your spouse, as you would have been saaaay... on your wedding day. There are hard times, there are mood swings, there are dished to be done, bills to be paid and endless "To Do" lists, but when we remind ourselves and RE-remind ourselves to take just a second to serve one another, even with the little things, we come to love each other a little, or A LOT more everyday.

What are your hopes for the future?
We both hope to be starting our own little family very soon. Also, a white picket fence is on the list.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
The great thing about love is... it doesn't divide. It multiplies. So take it in and pass it around.

As always, if you'd like to participate in the Real People in Love series, just shoot me an email!
