Real People in Love: Gelareh & Antony

I'm very excited to feature this week's Real People in Love. A couple of months ago Gelareh from CoCoon contacted me about participating in the series. Gelareh and Antony recently moved to London after traveling down the west coast of Canada and the US. Not only are Gelareh and Antony traveling partners but they are also business partners, as they run a vintage shop on Etsy together called My CoCoon Vintage. These two seem like such genuine, wonderful people (not to mention that they are gorgeous!) and it's great to hear their happy view of life.

How old are you & Tanner?
I'm 29 and Antony is 27 (so I guess I'm the Mrs. Robinson in this relationship).

How long have you been together?
We've been together for a year.

What are your occupations?
I am a TV journalist, writer and multimedia producer. Antony is a physiotherapist. Together, we also run an online his & hers vintage shop and blog, which covers everything from music and fashion to our crazy travels. Ant is an amateur photographer and I also do styling. Phew, we're busy!

How did you meet?
We met at the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington state. The festival itself is held at the Gorge, a beautiful, natural setting for us to meet whilst dancing on plastic chairs and watching our absolute favourite band, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Our love for music definitely brought us together.

Define Love:
When we are laughing so hard that we think we might die, at something no one else could possibly get. Knowing exactly what the other person is thinking. And no matter how long its been since you last showered, somehow, your partner still believes you are the most beautiful thing they have ever laid eyes on.

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
Having to get our of bed in the morning while the other one is still there.

What is the best part?
It just keeps on getting better.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
This is a tough one. Thankfully our relationship has been filled with so many beautiful moments, but if we had to pick one...
Antony: Watching the sunrise while we sat on a beach in Porteau Cove, BC, cuddling and kissing my baby, talking about... well, everything.
Gelareh: Yeah, I think our road trips and camping memories are my fave too. Singing at the top of our lungs to Metric, windows rolled down, the sun blasting in and the biggest grin on our faces.

What makes you different from other couples?
It feels like when we are together the universe always seems to help us out; doors open...literally. I guess we are a destined match.

What is your favorite thing to do together?
Riding our bikes. Cooking. Thrifting. Finding treasures in back alleys. Buying antiques on eBay. Discovering new music. Going to gigs. Playing cards (shithead). Camping. Sitting on beaches. Picnics. Record shopping. Taking photos. Watching sunsets. Reading Antony the news in my best news anchor voice. Recycling. Hot Yoga. Spin (especially when Ant is teaching). Road Trips. Selling vintage treats at Antique markets. Gardening. Decorating our home. Living room dance parties. Leaving each other secret love notes. Playing with cats. Talking about animals. Watching Documentaries. Photo shoots. BBQing. Going to galleries. Going for runs. Saving the World.

Do you have a song?
Slow Show by The National, Lovers in a Dangerous Time by Bruce Cockburn and Rhythm is a Dancer by Snap!

What is the most essential element of making it?
Saying everything you feel, absolute trust and coffee & Baileys!

What are your hopes for the future?
To keep living our happy life the way we are. Seeing the world together. Building our business so we can spend all our time together. Doing our part to show our respect for Mother Nature and the environment. Most importantly to still hold hands when we are old and wrinkly.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
We just hope everyone gets to feel it some way or another.

As always, if you'd like to participate in the Real People in Love series, just shoot me an email!
