A New Chapter...

Keegan's death has caused some serious sadness around our house. It is so strange to walk into the house and Wheeze not be here. Our house is quieter and much lonelier. Every time we leave Layla follows us to the door with the saddest look on her face. Every time we go to bed I cry because the space at my feet is empty. Our house is so changed with Keegan's absence.
As a group my parents, Jus & I decided that a new puppy might help ease my pain. Jus & I have previously talked about always being a two dog house and in tossing around what breed we would want Basset Hounds kept coming up. So without further ado...

Our new Basset Hound puppy, Edie Sedgwick, named for the Edie Sedgwick, one of Andy Warhol's muses.*

Two days after Keegan's death my mom called some friends who breed Bassets. As it happened they had one puppy from a litter that had been premature. After the birth the mother developed a serious infection and was unable to nurse the puppies. Sadly three out of the four died, the remaining puppy was a little girl who was bottle fed and spoiled so much that the family was certain they would keep her.

After my mom's phone call our friends decided that they would be willing to part with the puppy knowing that I would give her a good home, so three nights ago we brought home this little darling.

Being a premie Edie is teensy tiny, she weighs 2 pounds and 6 ounces and is approximately the size of a two week old puppy, even though she is actually six weeks old. Edie is the sweetest puppy I have ever met, not to mention the cutest. She loves to snuggle and will follow me around whining until I pick her up.

Even though we still miss our Wheeze this sweet little puppy is making the emptiness bearable.

My Love for tonight: Little Miss Edie Sedgewick
My Happiness for tonight: Watching Project Runway with my two girls

*If you haven't seen Factory Girl I would definitely suggest it

Your little pup is so cute! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love when people stop by and comment instead of lurking about :).
