Real People in Love: Amber & Matt

I always love getting emails from bloggers wanting to participate in the Real People in Love series. Amber emailed me a couple of weeks ago asking to participate and I couldn't have been more tickled. Amber is the woman, mom & wife behind Social Butterfly and is always sharing fun projects and recipes so be sure to hop on over there and check it out.
Remember, if you'd like to participate in the Real People in Love series just shoot me an email, the different responses bloggers give are so hopeful.

How old are you & Matt?
I am 26 and he is 31.

How long have you been together?
We met a little over 4 years ago. The first time we laid eyes on each other was the first night we were inseparable and we have been together ever since.

What are your occupations?
I am a stay at home momma, also a Scentsy Consultant. So basically, I get to stay home with my kiddos every day and sell yummy smelly wickless candles. My hubby, on the other hand, is always hard at work and on call constantly for his job. He is a union lineman and very dedicated to the study of it, which makes me love him even more.

How did you meet?
I had just moved back to my little old hometown where I grew up and was staying with my parents temporarily. I was working a full time job and a part time job as a bartender. The lounge that I tended at was a little old place that had regulars and that was about it. One night a few guys came in and I noticed that one of them was very tall, tan and handsome, and I couldn't stop myself from blushing when he asked me my name. I could not stop smiling and looking at him. We talked briefly because it was really busy that night and I had to stay focused. He asked for my number and gave me his in return. Over the next few weeks we went out and talked about everything in our lives, it was an amazing feeling to share our thoughts with each other.

How did you get engaged?
It took but 6 months before we decided we wanted this to be a never ending story. I think we pretty much agreed that we wanted to take our relationship a step farther, and we smiled and began making plans for the future at that moment.

Tell us about your wedding day (not necessarily elements but feelings too):
Ahhhh. Our wedding day. I smile every time I think about it because the feelings are just beautiful. I can remember being really anxious to slip in that dress and say I Do. When I walked down the aisle I must have been the happiest person in the world because my face hurt so bad afterwards from smiling so much. Our families and friends were all there to celebrate the moment with us. My son was the most handsome ring bearer ever in his little suit (he was 5 at the time).
During the reception my hubby and I couldn't stop holding each other and whispering little sweet things in each other's ear. It was as if we had a secret that the world would never know.

Define Love:
When you wake up in the morning with a smile on your face because your dreams were really reality.

What is the toughest part of being in a committed relationship?
Learning to communicate, explaining exactly how you feel and what's on your mind, even if you don't want to. All in all, be honest.

What is the best part?
Knowing that I share my life with my best friend. Feeling secure and protected. When we laugh and smile together we are building a lifetime of memories to look back on, what's not to love about that.

What is the best day the two of you have had together?
If I had to pick just one it would be the day after we were married. We woke up, flew to California, and did a 9 day cruise. We had the biggest smiles on our faces the whole time! It was the first time we had ever flown on an airplane, went on a cruise, danced to mariachis, swallowed pina coladas like they were candied apples, swam in the ocean together, watched a man jump off a 50 foot cliff (for entertainment!) and...last, but not least, held each other and watched the sun set over the ocean.

What makes you different from other couples?
I'm not sure you can say we are different. I just know we are the same in lots of different ways. We are human and we love each other, there is bound to be tension between one another and there will always be joy. We love life.

What is your favorite thing to do together?
My hubby and I enjoy trying new things, we are both daring and fun! We love food and comedies. We curl up on the couch with yummy snacks and watch hilarious movies quite often. So that would have to be a favorite!

Do you have a song?
We have our song that we danced to on our wedding day, which is "Unchained Melody," I love that song. But, when we first met and the song "Here I Go Again" by White Snake came on we would blare it as loud as we could in his car and just jam to it. Every time it comes on we still do the same thing-turn it up and just blare it! Good times.

What is the most essential element of making it?
If you do not love, how can you feel? And if you can't feel, how do you know what you want? So I guess what I think is most essential is love and having faith in what you love.

What are your hopes for the future?
To live a fulfilled, happy and healthy life. I want to be 90 years old, sitting on my porch swing with my husband and talking about the memories we share with each other and with our children.

Anything else the world needs to know about love?
Trust love, so it will trust you.

What a sweet story. I follow Amber and buy Scentsy from her. She is a real sweetheart and I am glad to know her! Thanks for making me smile while I cook dinner, try to get four kids to do chores, two of them to do homework and one of them to practice guitar! I needed that! Can not wait for my Hubs to come home so I can hug him! :)
