This is Chunk.
Ok, well, his name is really Goose, but he reminds me of the famous Chunk.
Chunk stayed with us this weekend while his owner is away.
Over the course of his visit Chunk & I have developed a connection.
You see, Chunk is a rescue dog. One that had a pretty terrible life before he was rescued by our friend's sister. I've told you a bit about our Layla's past and Chunk's isn't too different.
Somewhere along the way a man decided it was ok to beat the crap out of this sweet, loving dog. I'm sure we'll all agree that it's terrible to beat an animal but to beat one to the point that he's afraid to go outside with Jus is inexcusable.
Somewhere along the way Chunk had a lady that loved him. He sat & slept next to me, he wagged his tail when I walked in the door and in general just enjoyed being near me. So much so that I worry that he spends his days lonely, wishing that his really wonderful owner had a girlfriend or wife to give the comfort that I have.
I know it's bad to think about kidnapping someone else's dog, but this weekend I've gotten to thinking maybe we should keep Chunk with us, so he can build some confidence, gain trust in men and be comfortable in his home.
At the end of the weekend he was ecstatic to see his owner so I didn't have the opportunity to steal him but a little longer & a little more love and we would've had 3 dogs.

Ahhh this breaks my heart. Our little Scoutie was rescue too. We don't know what happened to her but someone threw her out in the road in July. When we found her she was starved, and covered in fleas, with road pavement melted into her fur. She is deathly afraid of plastic bags and she gets scared and pees when people come over to the house.
that is so aweful, what happened to him! we have jacob who was a rescue, we found him all beat up and running around looking for someone. we took him to the shelter, but they were going to put him down... we weren't supposed to have any more dogs, but 6 years he is still with us!
chunk is so cute! i am so happy to hear he has a great home with a loving human!!!
Aw, what a sweetheart. :( It breaks my heart than anyone could be mean to that little animal. :(
My aunt has two rescues and it breaks my heart to hear stories like this. I just don't understand how anyone could mistreat a pet.
awww poor little guy, how could you hurt such a sweet dog?
I want a dog soon and stories like this just convince me even more to rescue one!
Awww... poor chunk! Glad he's got a loving home now and a potential loving dognapper. :-)
Stories like that always devastate me. How can anyone ever think it's okay to beat a poor, defenseless animal?
Chunk has such a sweet little face. I would want to keep him too! I'm glad he's getting lots of loving now, he deserves it for sure.
What a cutie. So sorry that he was treated so badly :( No pup deserves that.
And.. I totally think his real name should be Chunk!
aww chunk is such a sweet baby! i call all dogs babies even if they are old hehe :) such a sad back story though. makes me want to beat the crap out of the people who think its ok to hurt animals.
It breaks my heart to hear this sweetie was beating to any point. I am happy to hear that he is saved and slowly getting a doggy kind of life back. I still think you should kidnap him though ;)
Much Love,
Crystal
