The Best Girl

Yesterday morning we lost Keegan. She had not been doing very well since her surgery and had been back to the vet a couple of times. Wheeze had hardly eaten last week and when Jus got home Friday Keegan was very lethargic. Jus took her to the vet and she was there until she died. The vet thinks that after her surgery an abscess formed and burst, he's going to do autopsy and then we will bury her at my parent's house.

Keegan slept on my side of the bed every night, she always begged for food if we were eating anything away from the table, and she was always sure that she could catch the squirrels in our yard. Keegan had more personality then some people I know and wouldn't let anyone get away with anything. I could go on and on about how wonderful she is but this isn't a crazy pet blog.

I think we will get another dog eventually, Layla has been very lonely since Keegan first had to go to the vet and my side of the bed is cold. But this week is about mourning the loss of my favorite dog in the entire world. 

The Missing Piece

Jus & I just got back from taking Wheezer to the vet she has stones in her bladder making it so she can't pee, which means her bladder is now the size of a softball. She is going to have surgery in the morning but I think she'll be ok. So thats the news from here, and just to pacify my loneliness here's one of my favorite pictures of Keegan.

An Update

Keegan and I are back from our haircuts and looking much better.

Getting Beautious

Today is the day of haircuts, two of the four of us are getting our hair cut. One of us needs it more than the other, so, without further ado...

Our Cairn Terrier, Keegan. She's got some crazy hair. In fact, her hair has earned her the nickname "Dirty," sad, I know, but she's got tons of other nicknames too.* This picture is a couple of months old, but the home trims I've been giving her just aren't cutting it any more, so off to the groomer she goes.

Most people don't know much about Cairns, they often get confused with Scotties or Westies but one of the most famous dogs ever just happens to be a Cairn

One Christmas I campaigned heavily for a Cairn and a couple of days before Christmas I got Keegan. And let me tell you, young Cairns are hell on wheels. They're known to have strong personalities and bodies. They were breed to go into dens after badgers, so they had to put up a pretty good fight, but aren't aggressive normally.

Wheeze genuinely has the best personality of any dog I've ever owned, she is sweet, confident and playful. She never lets you get away with anything, in general she is just an amazing dog. Her "sister" Layla is sweet too, but I'll save that for a later post.

So anyways, she gets her hair cut today, and I'm going to buy her a new collar too, she deserves it. I'm the other one getting my hair cut, but I'm not sure I need a new collar.
