Double Dip: Fourth Fun

I absolutely loved roundup up all that red, white & blue yesterday and thought it would be fun to keep this week's double dip in the same thought, especially when I saw this adorable party on Pinterest.

Double Dip: Cake!

When looking for an inspiration shot for this week's Double Dip I knew I had to use this gorgeous Maggie Austin cake. The color, ombre effect & ruffly feel make me (almost) wish we had gone in a different direction for our wedding cake.

Roundup: Shower Curtains

Happy Thursday, loves. I hope you're feeling happy & healthy I'm battling my 3rd sickness in as many months and would gladly trade it in.

We've got a second coat of paint up in our bathroom but still have to paint the trim and finish up the rest.

One thing that we really need is a shower curtain. Our current one is a cheapo white Target number and with the new paint color comes the desire for a new shower curtain. I think we'll stick to a black & white curtain however I thought it would be fun to roundup a variety of colors just in case you're looking for the perfect shower curtain too!

I'm really loving florals lately and black & white makes the perfect statement.
Sudsy Buds from ModCloth $34.99

Will someone buy this and send me pictures?

Just in case you can't find a curtain you like, you can design your own

I love the bright, bold color of this curtain

I'm pretty in love with the bright colors & pattern of this curtain

If red & green weren't Christmas colors I might have to add this beauty to our bathroom.

Dandelions & beautiful brown? Yes, please.

I think it's safe to say we all love chevrons, yes?

Perfect for summer

Tell me you haven't drooled over this shower curtain before

A bold graphic makes a statement

Cute, colorful owls make for a playful & fun bathroom.

I'm not sure I can quite explain how much I love this shower curtain.

And I think I found the perfect one for us.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway!

Renovation Lesson #110

Projects are never really done.

Well, maybe if you aren't married to me you wouldn't have to repaint your bathroom. But considering that both Jus & I were done with the light blue we are super excited to paint the bathroom green. The color makes the subway tile pop and I can't wait to get the rest up!

Renovation Lesson #109

Even when you think you've finished a room it's never really done.

It's true, Jus & I hate the color in the master bath, originally I was going to paint chevrons but the wall isn't tall enough so we're scrapping the light blue for something that doesn't get so washed out next to the  white tile.

The Easiest Project Yet

After we finished painting the bathroom we realized that there was a gaping hole left in our renovation, well, technically two.

The teeny tiny windows in the master bathroom are at the height that turn getting into the shower a bit of a peep show.

Cafe curtains, while cute, would look too vintage, I wanted modern looking window treatments to counterbalance the tile.

I considered getting sliding curtain panels from Ikea, but they would have been too big and I considered making my own panels, but I didn't want cloth panels. I realized that I could get my desired look by etching the windows but was hesitant to etch the window considering I would be stuck with the design I chose.

Luckily for me I struck gold at Target last week. As I was walking down the seasonal aisle these polyurethane place mats caught my eye.

With a frosted background & bold pattern I knew I had to try these out.

I measured our windows and cut the mats to size.

I slapped on some double sided tape (just in case I want to change them in a month).

And stuck them to the windows. And the finished product? I couldn't be happier.

The total project cost just $3.96 plus tax and I plan to keep my eye out for any new styles of polyurethane place mats Target offers so I can change the look. But for now I am absolutely LOVING the look of the bold pattern mixed with the subway tile.

What's the easiest DIY you've ever done?

Before & After: Master Bathroom

Before I jump into the photos I have to tell you, I didn't style our bathroom for these, I just used my point & click camera and forgot to take the pictures during the day.

So anyway, these aren't the photos I hope to one day submit to Design*Sponge but rather the photos I'm dying to share with you because one of our rooms is actually done!

Before:

Yuck! I can't believe all that dirt!

After:

We painted the walls Valspar's Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue and the trim Pittsburgh Paints Oyster Pearl. We still need some curtains and Jus wants to regrout all the tile so that it's pure white instead of dirty black grout but for now it works.

I promise to post some more before & afters up because the Behemoth is starting to take shape!

Powder Room Reality

One of the best things about renovating a house is seeing progress and knowing that you are responsible for what has happened.
And what has happened recently is that the powder room under the stairs went from looking like this...

To looking like this...

Our gold chrysanthemum wallpaper is up with bright purple trim. We're still looking for a light fixture & mirror for the space

Powder Room Pretties

One image that has stuck with me since I first saw it is the image of Domino Magazine editor, Rita Konig's front hallway.

I'm not sure if I first saw it in an issue of Domino (I started reading late and have only recently completed my collection of the magazines) or in the wonderful Domino Book but I have always hoped to recreate a small space with a dynamic wallpaper.
When we got the Behemoth I knew exactly which room would be wallpapered, the small half bath tucked under the front stairs.

Jus is leery of wallpaper, I imagine it's because he's thinking it will look like this.

Instead of this.

I love bright, bold wallpaper and have been scouring the web looking for some that will make our powder room pop.
Design*Sponge has an awesome product guide to help you find delicious wallpapers and I've waxed philosophic about how badly I wanted some wallpaper before but have never had the space to put it before. Now that we do I'm totally overwhelmed with my options.
Following the wedding Jus & I received a ton of Target gift cards so I decided to start my search there. (I know, Target sells wallpaper, who knew?)
Target has some really lovely wallpaper.

At first I decided I wanted something bright and bold. I decided to look for black & white wallpaper to go with bright yellow trim in the bathroom.

And then I stumbled on this paper and it was game over.

I mean, it's a big pattern, the flowers look like fireworks, and it's gold. Can you get more decadent than that?
I can't wait to show you the color I picked for the trim to go with this paper but unfortunately we're always at the house in the dark so the pictures aren't too good. We're going to be spending all weekend working on the house so I promise to grab some daylight photos.
I'll be back Monday with a post and (hopefully) a new address, that's right, we're hoping to move into the Behemoth Sunday!

Do you have any fun plans this weekend?
