Baby Art

My mom & I are headed to a baby shower this weekend and have been working on putting together a big gift full of presents that represent each month.

I was assigned May (along with some other months) and was asked to find a floraly piece of art. Naturally, I procrastinated a bit and realized that I was at the point where I wouldn't have time to order some art so DIY would be my only solution.

And, since this DIY turned out to be super easy & super cute I knew I had to share it with you.

1. Accumulate all the necessary materials. I picked a 12" x 12" piece of patterned paper for the background, some Martha Stewart letter stickers & a sheet of 8" x 10" paper in a coordinating color and an 8" x 10" picture frame. I used scissors, paper cutter & rubber cement.

2. Cut patterned paper down to size.

3. Print out lowercase initial and cut out.

4. Trace backwards onto colored paper (so the trace lines will be on the back of the finished product) and cut out.

5. Center initial and glue down with rubber cement.

6. Center letter stickers underneath spelling the full name.

7. Frame & hang!

This DIY cost about $13 and took about 15 minutes.

Easy Peasy!

Lovin' Lately

As we've gone to decorate the walls of the Behemoth I've realized that I am more and more drawn to collections on walls.

I'm not much of a collector of little things, I've never collected dolls or toys or buttons but when it comes to hanging things up I dream of collection upon collection upon collection.

Little List

Hello my lovelies.

It's been a little while since I've done a little list and I couldn't think of a better way to spend my Tuesday.

1. Summer is here, I know my slightly stylish post looked like we were freezing but warm weather came with the first week of summer.

2. Speaking of which, is there anything more delightful than sitting outside on a warm summer evening?

3. Ok, an afternoon date for ice cream might be more delightful but I can't decide.

4. I spent all day yesterday cleaning up one of our extra bedrooms. In the 6 months Jus & I have lived in the Behemoth we've painted 9 rooms & only set up 7, four of which are bathrooms. I can't tell you how nice it is to get another room set up.

5. Now that a guest room is set up we're in desperate need of curtains. I'm thinking of buying fabric & having them sown into curtains. I've had the fabric for the living room for a while but have yet to get curtains sewn.

6. I've been craving iced tea lately but I haven't been drinking nearly enough. I need more Arnold Palmers in my life.

7. The people we got Edie from just had another litter of puppies. I'm trying to convince myself that we don't need another Basset Hound.

8. Warm days make me wish that we had a pool in the back yard. I can't tell you how many times a day I would run out back and jump in the pool if we had one.

9. Last week I finally got around to getting new art for our bathroom, or should I say making new art.

10. I ended up making an extra painting that I would love for one of you lovelies to have. And cause I love you oodles I thought I'd give you lots of ways to win this giveaway.

Double Dip: A Lovely Print

When I look for my double dip inspiration image the first place I turn to is Pinterest. Like many others I'm madly in love with the site. As it turns out this print is something I pinned many moons ago but when I saw it in my folders I knew I had to use it.

Double Dip: Cake!

When looking for an inspiration shot for this week's Double Dip I knew I had to use this gorgeous Maggie Austin cake. The color, ombre effect & ruffly feel make me (almost) wish we had gone in a different direction for our wedding cake.

Double Dip: Flowers

Ok, I promise that I'll knock it off with posting about flowers.

Well, I'll kinda knock it off...

...Maybe someday.

One of my favorite wedding decorations comes from the amazingly talented Ashley Meaders. When I grow up I want to be like her (and Grace Potter) but Ashley Meaders is seriously talented and this floral decoration is seriously gorgeous.

May Flowers: For Your Wall

I was trying to figure out what to round up this week and thought that since we only had one week of May left I might as well continue the flower theme and find some florals for you to hang up on your walls.

There are fewer things girlier than pink flowers, that is, except for photos of said flowers.

Some delightful modern poppies.

I'm always on the lookout for originial paintings and this one definitely catches my eye.

This print is way too cute.

I know I posted one similar to this last week but I love this too much not to include it.

The perfect way to get tulips all year round.

And another beautiful tulip.

A delightfully modern take on flowers.

These roses remind me of my wedding roses.

You know I couldn't have wrapped up a month of flowers without including some peonies.

May Flowers: For Your Home

Now you couldn't possibly think that I was tired of rounding up floral things yet, did you? I've rounded up flowers for your garden, flowers for your wardrobe and now it's time to round up flowers for the rest of your home.

The prettiest way to frame a window.

These cheery plates would make every meal brighter.

I have already decided that we're doing this in the back yard.

Add some happy daisies to your house.

I love the mix of traditional & modern with this duvet.

I wouldn't normally call a dish brush pretty but it's hard to call this anything but.

A big pop of flowers.
Blythe Chair from Anthropologie $1,598.00
(I know, I know, but it's so pretty!)

A bouquet of flowers automatically brightens a room.

And a fun way to decorate with fresh flowers.

I love this print.

Make even the manliest beer a little girly.

This light makes me smile so much.

Because sometimes vintage botanical prints are just too hard to find.
Helianthus Multiflorus from 1001 Treasures $12.00

First impressions are key.
Floor-ally Functional Doormat from Modcloth $37.99

One of the cutest ways to hang your towel.

Looking for a more subtle flower?

Bring bold to your bedroom. (That kind of sounds like a self help book)

Just a touch for flowers.
