Getting to Know You

Sorry I missed yesterday, darlings, We've been super busy with wedding stuff and I haven't been sleeping very well lately, and excuses, excuses, excuses.
I'm falling asleep as I write this, so I'll try to make it short and sweet, and finish the week with another getting to know you.

My favorite color is...
Purple! I named my first cat Purple.

Food is...
Popcorn, seafood (especially crabs!), macaroni & cheese!

Month is...
August (cause it's my birthday!-haha), I also love October & December

Movie is...
Almost Famous and my favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas

Book is...
Oh goodness, if I just have to pick one I pick Nicole Krauss's The History of Love

Holiday is...
Definitely Christmas. I know it's pretty commercialized but I love all of the magic and the happiness that comes with thinking of others more than yourself

TV Show is...
I watch more TV in the Winter than in the Summer but I like Project Runway, Criminal Minds & Grey's Anatomy

Season is...
Probably Fall, but I also like Summer...and Winter. I guess I like all seasons except for Spring, for some reason Spring really gets me down.

and Person is...
Jus! (haha, I know you know this but I thought it would be fun to learn who your favorite person is!)

Your turn! I can't wait to read your responses!

To Know You

Yesterday this little bloggy hit 200 followers and I can't tell you how excited that makes me! (What makes me even more excited is that I know there are more readers that registered as followers!)
While I can go on and on about how much I heart & appreciate you and host giveaways to thank you, one of the most rewarding things is getting to know you a little more. I had lots of fun reading through your answers here and here and can't wait to read your answers to today's!

Lately I've been listening to:
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals; Florence & The Machine; Bon Iver; Sigur Ros; Jack Johnson; Brett Dennen.
Honestly, I haven't found anything fabulous lately and would really like to, so if you have some suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Reading:
I stayed up way too late last night finishing The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, I haven't decided what my next read is.

Wearing:
Dresses, I have to wear a uniform at work so when I get done I live my life in dresses.

Watching:
Not a ton of TV, we've been pretty busy lately, but I love Intervention & Criminal Minds (in addition to some trashy shows like Teen Mom and Sixteen and Pregnant)

Eating:
BLUEBERRIES! Jus & I love frozen blueberries and we go through them like crazy. And ice cream, I always try to get Jus to make a meal out of ice cream and we eat ice cream 4 or 5 times a week.

Working on:
Wedding stuff, wedding stuff, wedding stuff, and a little on our back hall.

Ok, your turn!

PS Don't forget to sign up for the giveaway!

Monday Monday

Good Morning, darlings!
I hope you had as happy of a weekend as we did, I worked hard Saturday but Saturday night & Sunday were filled with good friends, good food, lots of fun and even more laughter.
Last night I was feeling incredibly uninspired, lately I feel like I've been a little scattered and not entirely sure what to write about. I hope you'll stick the rest of the summer out, late nights and lots of fun leads to less homebodiness and thus less posts.

A few weeks ago I saw a post that Micaela had done about getting to know her readers and absolutely loved it. You all play such a happy role in my day to day life and I'd love to get to know you better.

So here goes...

My name is Nicole (come on, you had to have figured that out, no?) but everyone who is close to me (and all little kids) call me Cole (Jus thinks it suits me better anyways).

I'll be 25 the last week of August.

I work at my parent's diner as a baker & waitress and can't wait to start our own business.

I live in Northern Indiana, in the town I grew up in, with Jus, Edie, Layla, & Jack, in a three bedroom house that we bought 2 years ago.

Popcorn is my favorite snack food, perhaps except in the summer when ice cream is hard to beat.

And just for fun a picture of Edie, who's going crazy because Jus took Layla to work with him today.

Won't you play along? I'd love to hear from all of you my darlings!

When I Was 13.

Sunday night I stayed up until 4 am watching Titanic, I hadn't seen it since I was 12 and the I sat in our living room and sobbed just as much as I had twelve years ago. Then yesterday we were in the car and Savage Garden's Truly, Madly, Deeply came on the radio.
The memories associated with both of these reminds me of braces, fuzzy hair and all around awkwardness. (I've been searching for a picture of myself from 7th grade but they're all at my parents!)
Since it's fun to reminisce I thought we could all take a trip down memory lane, I'd love to see your responses either here or on your own blog.

When I was 13ish I was:

Listening to:
Evan & Jaron's "Crazy for this Girl," I loooooooved this song so much that it inspired me to write my first (and only) fan (e)mail. My awesome parents took me so see these one hit wonders twice and I can still sing every single word.

Reading:
Mostly books for school, but two I can remember liking were Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier and Say Goodnight Gracie by Julie Reece Deaver

Wearing:
Oh man. Braces (complete with colored rubber bands that changed monthly); Overalls (and shortalls) were big at my school; I wore a lot of striped three quarter length shirts. Truth be told I wasn't what you'd call fashionable.

Watching:
I watched a lot of MTV. I loved TRL and loved all of the special shows they had for spring break.
Titanic was one of my favorite movies, I saw it 3 times in theaters. I loved all girly movies that made me cry but my all time favorite was 10 Things I Hate About You, I can still quote the heck out of that movie.

Crushing on:
By that point I had gotten over my Jonathan Taylor Thomas crush but I was all about any celebrity with long, shaggy brown hair (Evan & Jaron, Heath Ledger). In real life I was the queen of crushes, I had so many that I started a "newsletter" about my friends & me and who we were all crushing on.

Well, how's that for a trip down memory lane. I hope you'll play along, it's so fun to revisit a time in my life awkwardness and crushes reigned supreme.

Fill In the Blank

It's time for Lauren's fill in the blank Friday again. If you want to play along head over to the little things we do and link up to the MckLinky!

1. If I had two hours to myself today, I'd clean the house, its soooooo messy right now .

2. If I could travel anywhere today, I would go to somewhere warm, it's supposed to snow today and I'm really getting tired of being cold .

3. All of the weekends Jus and I have spent together. Especially when we go away for the weekend is my happiest memory.

4. Sometimes you're anxious to be on time other times you're always late (I blame Jus) .

5. Beauty is only counts if it's on the inside too .

6. I would be embarassed if anyone knew how messy our house is now (which I already told you) or how silly I am sometimes, there are times it borders really weird .

7. Love at first sight is slightly hard to believe in. Jus & I had to work at liking and loving each other(I'll fill you in next week) .

Fill In the Blank

Last week Lauren at the little things we do started a "fill in the blank" Friday. I had fun playing along on her blog last week, so I thought I'd share my answers with you this week. Plus, I just got back from dropping Edie off at the vet and have some time to kill.

1. If I weren't a waitress/baker I'd love to be an author, designer, architectural historian (Is it obvious I don't know what I want to do when I grow up?) .

2. When I'm super upset I tend to explode. This is something I'm really not proud of, I usually calm down about 2 minutes later but I wish I could handle my anger/frustration better .

3. My favorite thing about myself is my eyes & smile .

4. If I found a $100 in the pocket of last winter's coat I'd spend it on dinner with Jus or a dress (I am really craving girly florals lately) .

5. Even though some people might consider this a flaw, I love that I'm so open with my emotions, good & bad .

6. I love the way I feel when I get all dressed up to go out with Jus and also when we're both in our jammies on the sofa .

7. I love my hair most when it's good. Very rarely is it good, my curls are pretty crazy most of the time .

Feel free to steal this and upload your answers on Lauren's blog via MckLinky.
