Joining the Grandma Club

It's official.

I'm a card carrying member of the grandma club.

No, Edie didn't have puppies.

But I did buy my very first afghan.

Man Oh Man

Normally my Thursday nights are spent at an auction with my mom. We scrounge for furniture to fill the Behemoth and have found a number of wonderful pieces.

One week I was sick so Jus filled my spot and after that trip I'm not sure if I'll let him go again.

Why not?

Well, how would you feel if you had 3 mannequins in your house?

Books for Dogs

Yesterday while BFF Beth and I were on a thrifting expedition I couldn't believe my eyes when I spied the best book for Little Miss Edie Sedgwick.

I was so excited to see an Edie book that I didn't even bother opening the book until I got home. And wouldn't you know, it's about our Edie's namesake!

And, I totally can't wait to read this!

How I Spent My Monday

Yesterday I spent the day thrifting with my mom. We went to two thrift stores and two antique malls and I brought home quite a load.

Some things are for my etsy shop:

And some stuff gets to stay here...
I was so excited to find (another) beautiful vintage coat!

And a some things for the wedding (another project I'll fill you in on later).
Have you had any luck thrifting lately?

P to the S: Don't forget to sign up for the giveaway! Tomorrow is the last day you can!
Double P to the S: Sign up for the Brown Paper Package Exchange if you haven't already! I've had lots of people contact me but if you've haven't send an email my way so I can add you to my list!

Some Me Time

I don't work on Mondays so that's usually my day to run errands and get stuff done, but sometimes it's just my day to enjoy myself.
Yesterday I did just this, I started with a haircut.
About a year ago my stylist started to talk to me about growing my hair out, I've always been the kind of girl that is antsy pants to always change my hair, but I decided to go for it and now my hair is the longest it's ever been
Please forgive the stupid look

I had to include this one just because my face is even weirder

After my haircut I went shopping for a while and bought some springy clothes. I also picked up the beautiful hair pin I bought to wear at the wedding.

I found this pin a couple of weeks ago but it was missing a couple of stones so the antiques dealer I bought it from fixed it for free!
I forgot how lovely it was, I'm so excited to wear it in 7 months!

While I was at the antique mall I stumbled upon something I decided I had to have.

Yep, that's a box of letterpress type. It weighs 40 pounds and I don't know what we'll do with them but I had to buy it. Right now we've set up about half of the box alphabetically and will finish the rest tonight.
What would you use them for?

When I got home I was excited to see that I had gotten a letter from my pen pal that Nicole from my teacups in peony set up.
The card says "Take your time for being happy and enjoy every second of your life"

My pen pal is named Belinda and she is from Austria and I'm pretty excited to continue our correspondence. When I was in 2nd grade I had a pen pal from France for one letter but she wrote in French and I didn't know a speck of it so that didn't work out too well.

What's your favorite way to spend a day alone?

Monday Monday

Happy Monday!
Did your weekend go as quickly as ours did?
We woke up earlier than normal Saturday which meant our day was significantly longer than Saturdays normally feel. We spent most of the day shopping at antique malls.
We found some things we had to bring home...

And some things that were just a little too crazy...

Sunday we went and saw the movie Crazy Heart, which was great and Jeff Bridges' Oscar is well deserved.

I also spent much of this weekend getting into Bon Iver. Jus had tried to have me listen to their before but I never really paid attention. I know I'm pretty late hopping on this train but I love. Bon Iver's sound and haven't listened to anything else this weekend.
It makes me wonder what else I'm missing.
So help me out, what else should I be listening to?

100 Photos: Day 59

We spent the whole day yesterday at antique shops. Somethings we had to get but others we had to leave.

Success!

Monday I stopped by one of my regular thrifting stops, normally I don't have much luck at this particular store but Monday seemed to be my lucky day.

One of the first things I saw when I walked into the thrift store was my darling pink wreath. I was also able to snag some tinsel garland (I told you our house was pretty sparkly).
I found this great fabric with a birch forest. I'm planning to make a pillow or two out of it, but that'll be my first attempt at pillow making.

This Couroc tray has it's original label on the back, I think the red and gold mushrooms are pretty cool.

I love the shape of these Fibrilla plates. I am thisclose to keeping them for myself, I LOVE the apples!

I also love this little apple green teapot. Sadly, I don't drink much tea.

So except for the wreath and fabric I'm gonna share the wealth and add these lovelies to My Wish for You.

My Love for today: Jus, for working 11 hours at work and coming home and working for another 2 cleaning (I helped!)
My Happiness for today: Watching Elf and remembering that "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
And today is little Miss Edie Sedgwick's 4 month birthday.

Success!

Saturday I stopped by a small thrift store that I hadn't been to before. Even though the store was teeny tiny I was able to find these lovelies.
I found this lovely lamp

It replaced the green industrial lamp that was hanging out by our rocking chair.
Better, no?

I also found this flannel blanket. One day our living room will contain piles of flannel blankets.

I was so excited to find this lovely mirror. It reminds me so much of the Eleanor that we have hanging in our bathroom.
Since we already have our mirror I thought I'd spread the love and put this one on etsy.

Jus had a productive weekend and put up our Christmas lights. I am over excited for Christmas and can't wait to decorate but I'm making myself wait until after Thanksgiving.

Did you have a successful weekend?

Something New

So I'm sure you've noticed it over to the side there>>>>>>>>>>>
BUT
I have an Etsy shop now. It's called My Wish For You and is a mishmash of my thrifting/crafting.
So check it out, but please be kind, I'm a little nervous.

Success!

The other day my cousin & I went on an outing/treasure hunt and I was able to nab these lovelies...
First off, and this was the real reason we went back to my favorite store around here, is this blanket that I have been sad about missing since my last trip.

My mom gave me this lovely vintage Woolrich Hudson Bay Blanket and I can't wait to put it at the foot of our bed, but alas, we have to wait till our puppy is a little less puppyish.

I love the plaid of this blanket and how cozy it makes our living room.

I also got this lovely blue enamel pitcher, the color is so rich and the enamel is pristine.

And last but not least check out these lovelies...

A set of Junior Deluxe Edition novels printed in 1954, I don't recognize all of the titles but the best part by far are the graphic covers, oh, and the fact that they were 75% off!

The set sort of reminds me of these new lovelies

Both via

I wouldn't mind getting the complete set of these Penguin clothbound classics.

My Love for today: Little Miss Edie Sedgwick, who is barking to get onto my lap and subsequently barking to get off.

My Happiness for today: My dad's Phillies are playing tonight for a chance to go to the world series again, even though I'm not much into sports I usually get excited for a Philly team.
