Hello, hello

Hello my loves.

Sorry to have cut out this weekend but I got an extra day off so we spent the long weekend at my parent's lake cabin. It was wonderful to have a weekend to unplug & relax.

Of course, unplugging leads to massively falling behind in the blog world so I apologize if I have an email to respond to or a blog to visit. Summer is such a busy time for us I can hardly stand it!

So I'll leave you with two pictures that sum up our weekend.

The first is a shaky picture of some fireworks (I'm still trying to figure out the secrets of my DSLR), we were fortunate enough to have two night of firework watching on my parents' boat. If you ever have the opportunity to watch fireworks on water I highly recommend it. The reflections are beautiful and the water makes every boom echo.

The second photo is pretty much the definition of how we spent our days at the lake. With temperatures topping 90 degrees it was hard not to spend the day in the water.

How was your Fourth of July weekend?

PS I wanted to remind you that all of your Color Me Happy packages should be sent & you should be receiving them within the next couple of days!

Slightly Stylish: Mustard Love

I'm going to tell you a truth about me. I really don't like weather between 50-65 degrees. Sure it's warmer than 40, but this in between weather leaves me wishing for warmer weather and yet wearing tights. Quite the conundrum, as you'd imagine.

Last week was a chilly, rainy week and I decided to brighten up the grey day by wearing my new We Love Colors tights in Scarlet. While I was hoping for red tights the tights I received were the color of Crayola's Razzamatazz and while they aren't quite red they're perfect for brightening up a grey day.

Another reason I can't stand grey days is because I start to get stuck in a rut, dream of new clothes and end up wearing jeans.

I've been dying to wear my new chambray shirt and a meeting with a bride was the perfect opportunity.

Saturday was a bit warmer & we spent the evening with my family, meeting Banan's new boyfriend, eating Mexican and laughing until our stomachs hurt.

I'd share my Easter outfit but I'm ashamed to admit it's a bit of a repeat. So that's it for now, darlings.

How do you deal with the funky in between weather?

Hoppy Days

Happy Monday, darlings!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We spent the weekend hanging out with family, searching for Easter baskets and eating far too many Peeps, Starburst jellybeans & Whopper eggs.

Easter, along with most holidays, is full of tradition for my family. Every Easter the "bunny" leaves clues directing Banan & me on a scavenger hunt for our baskets.

Four years ago Jus got to hunt for his very first basket. Two years ago Jus got in on the fun and over the past two years he has complained & complained about having to work for his basket.

But how can he complain when we get goodies like this?

Do you get an Easter basket?

Slightly Stylish: A Chilly Week

Happy Monday, darlings!

Jus & I spent the weekend relaxing & trying to kick this cold of mine.

I started last week being bored with my closet. Dreams of warm weather and sandals couldn't come true as the weather was cold.

I really hit a roadblock Wednesday when I was getting dressed for a meeting with a bride. It was the type of day where it's warm enough but not hot, cool enough but not cold, and I get stuck trying to decide what to wear.

The next day I had another meeting with a bride and had a little less trouble getting dressed. When I put this dress on I asked Jus if I had too much cleavage and he told me it was "tasteful" as soon as I saw my mom she told me to cover up a bit. Talk about opposite perspectives.

And finally, we spent Saturday hanging out with friends at the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. It was a super chilly day and once we saw snow I immediately doubted my outfit choice.

So, how was your weekend?

PS Would you prefer if I broke up outfit posts into different days? I might be tempted to as I start getting more outfits per week.

Slightly Stylish: Florals & Stripes

Happy Monday, lovebugs.

I hope you had as wonderful of a weekend as Jus & I did. Jus had both Saturday & Sunday off and my wonderful parents found a replacement for me so Jus & I were able to spend all day Saturday together.

Last Monday I celebrated warmer weather with a short sleeved dress, lunch with Jus & outside pictures.

Saturday was another warm day and I thought my new striped skirt was perfect for antiquing.

We hit the weather jackpot Sunday, it was delightful to be able to wear a dress with bare legs but I realized that Edie has systematically chewed through all of my summer sandals so I am in desperate need of some new ones.

I'm slightly worried that my summer outfits will be duplicates of the outfit before so I'm going to work on changing up my look so my style doesn't look like this.

Do you have a typical summer uniform?

Weekend Style: Slightly Stylish

Good morning, friends!

I hope your Monday is off to a good start, I am still exhausted after coordinating my first wedding, and truthfully, this past weekend was probably the least stylish weekend I've had in a while. Saturday was spent in black pants running up & down 3 flights of stairs and Sunday was spent napping in sweats.

Luckily for all of us I was slightly stylish last week.

We started last week off by getting together with family to celebrate my mom's birthday. I was super excited to dig into the clothes I got when Forever 21 was donating their online proceeds to Japan. I had been dying for some florals and this flirty, chiffon dress will be a staple this summer.

I got the chance to wear my new dress from my sister shopping trip to a meeting with this weekend's bride. I love the red bow detail & knew that I had to find some red tights to pair with the dress before it got too warm, luckily for me We Love Colors had just the color I was looking for, I'll be sure to fill you in as soon as I get them!

At the wedding rehearsal Friday night I wanted to look authoritative yet like myself. Another new dress got paired with a cardi & tights and I found myself with an outfit I absolutely love.

I'll be back with pictures from the wedding, but for now, how was your weekend?
