Snow Day

When our day got called off yesterday Jus & I decided to ignore the work we had to do and spend the day being bums. Plus we had a state of emergency so we were unable to drive anywhere.

I thought I'd document our snow day so you can see how we spent our lazy day.

10:30 (Yes, we slept in, it's a snow day!)
Wake up, take the dogs out, laugh as Edie tries to walk though the shallowest part of the snow.

11:30
Brew some Colombian blend from the local coffee shop, catch up on some blogs, start working on Vlog Friday post.

12:30
Be glad you married a hard worker, watch as Jus shovels the sidewalk and be thankful that you are warm inside.

1:30
Bundle up and walk a block to a local restaurant for lunch, realize that it might have been beneficial to have gone to the grocery store before the storm but wouldn't have mattered too much considering you don't have a stove.

2:30
Get home from lunch and make hot chocolate in preparation for an afternoon of reading.

3:30
Read under the covers.

4:30
Keep reading under the covers. Finish your book and start a new one. Take a short nap.

5:30
Wake up and keep reading in the chair. Be thankful that you have a Basset Hound to keep your lap warm.

6:30
Get bored. Wander into the guitar room and bug Jus while he's playing guitar.

8:30
Watch TV, order pizza, catch up on blogs while snuggling under the covers.

 9:30
Snuggle with the dog while watching Criminal Minds & Law & Order.

10:30
Laugh as you watch Jus & Edie play. Be thankful you have a warm place to stay.

11:30
Brush your teeth & get back into bed to read some more, be thankful that you get to go back to work tomorrow.

How did you spend your snow day?

Snowed In

I'm sure you've heard by now but the Midwest is knee deep in snow and getting blown every which way but warm.

Last night I convinced Jus to walk me through the blizzard to CVS so I could get dessert.

I'm pretty lucky that my wonderful husband is willing to walk his jammie clad through the snow to buy me microwavable brownies

Today we've got the day off, and we're celebrating by sleeping in, working on the stairway and snuggling in an effort to stay warm.

I thought I'd celebrate our snow day with you too! So in honor of our snow day I present you with...

A couple of months before our wedding I searched Etsy for the perfect clutches to give my bridesmaids. I wanted to find an adorable clutch that BFF Beth & Banan could use again and that I could stuff with goodies.
Luckily I stumbled upon Murwati.

With beautiful bags like this there was no way I could pass them up. And luckily for you Murwati kindly offered one of her beautiful wristlets for you!

Up for grabs is one of Murwati's Fairy Tale Wristlets in dark brown.

F You Winter!

Lately the weather around here has looked like this.

Cold & snowy, with occasional ice which means I've been bundling up, and frankly I'm a bit tired of wearing jeans, sweaters & Uggs.
Recently, there have been a couple of times when I've given winter the middle finger, put on a dress, some tights and stepped out into the freezing cold.
And the result?

Have you ditched the jeans this winter?

(Yeah, I know, we're working on the pictures but we have a crappy camera & I need to teach Jus how to do these types of shots)

Cold as Ice

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Ours was a blustery, cold, snowy one. Friday we got several inches of snow and I woke Saturday to a wintery wonderland. (Which led me to get this song stuck in my head)
None too sure about the snow

There's little funnier than watching a Basset Hound hop through the snow

While the weather was bad for any productivity that I was inclined to it was perfect for our town's Fire & Ice Festival. This weekend 10 ice carvers carved 60 blocks of ice and I couldn't help but wonder at the designs.
Did you know that each block of ice weighs 300 pounds?

Butterfly

Dragonfly

The ice cream soda at my parent's restaurant

And my favorite, a barrel of monkeys

What did you do this weekend?
